Hyundai Motor has recently launched its new Sonata 2.4 GDI Elite. The new Hyundai Sonata seems to appear quite same on the outside, as the South Korean auto major has not worked extensively on the car’s exterior. The real work was done to improve the Sonata’s performance, and thus all the real enhancements are hidden under this brilliant car’s hood.
According to the marketing director of Hyundai Automotive South Africa, Stanley Anderson the company is launching new models with a considerably reduced time lapse in between in the recent times. The new Hyundai Sonata comes in the form of a product enhancement and is not a revamped model.
A major facelift mainly comprises of cosmetic changes including new exterior features and altered stylish new body panel. However, the new Hyundai Sonata focuses only on the enhancements technical specifications under the hood, the chief one among these is the inclusion of a more potent 2.4 GDI motor.
The all new sixth generation of the Hyundai Sonata that marked Hyundai’s fluidic design philosophy in South Africa has just become more powerful and fuel efficient owing to a greater potential engine. However, the model does not only come with an improved performance but also some fresh exterior features. Anderson adds that the all new Hyundai Sonata sedan has taken the refinements to a newer level.
Although, the new Hyundai Sonata has not received a major facelift, and thus looks very similar to the previous model, it does come with some noteworthy exterior features such as the car’s redesigned headlights as well as tail lights. The sedan also flaunts a new grille, front bumper, fog lights, exterior side mirrors as well as new wheels.
Along with these exterior changes are also subtle improvements added to the interior of the quality sedan. The new interior changes include a new entertainment system with touchscreen in the centre console.
However, the new exterior and the interior features actually don’t form the main attraction of the new Hyundai Sonata. The chief enhancement lies in the new powerful motor that’s more agile and fuel efficient. The new Sonata also has a new steering that offers an improved light feeling over the preceding model. Though the previous model was also very efficient on the road, the new Sonata offers better on-road handling and driving experience.
Under the hood of the new Hyundai Sonata, where according to the company the real improvement shows, the car is driven by a new 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct Injection motor that delivers a greater power of 148kW as compared to the previous model’s 131kW. The new engine also offers a smoother performance and fuel economy when mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Hyundai is known to provide value for money and the stunning new Sonata keeps true to this fact, as it comes with a very competitive tag of R379900. The new Sonata’s primary rivals come in the form of Mercedes-Benz C200 auto, BMW 320i AT and Audi A4 1.8T, all of which are quite more expensive than the Sonata.
