Following on the success of the fluidic design, Hyundai, the Korean Car maker has unveiled the new I20 Sedan in Brazil and christened it as HB20S. The similarity between Brazilian and Indian market forecasts an Indian version of the new entry level sedan soon. Almost all the cars in the company`s garage are being updated with the fluidic design.
The all new sedan is expected to give a tough competition to the Honda Amaze and Chevrolet Sail that have been nicely welcomed in the Indian car market. The four-meter sedan is designed on the platform of the Hyundai i20 and the company has plans to place it between the Verna and the Accent. The car has a modern design and is equipped with some of the best features, though it has the design and frame of its hatchback twin.
The trendy and impressive sedan is expected to be powered by a 1.0 L 3 cylinder 80 Bhp engine or a 1.6 L four cylinder 128 Bhp engine. The company might plan to release the car in petrol as well as diesel variants. The sedan is provided with couple of transmission options- a five speed manual gear or a four speed automatic gear system. The launched sedan has dimensions of 4.2 m (L) X 1.7 m (B) X 1.5 m (H).
Here`s a look at the latest Hyundai sedan`s special features. It has a decent luggage capacity of 450 litres. The front part remains similar to the hatchback variant but there are minor visible changes. The wheelbase is basically the same as the I20 but the car has been furnished with additional boot flows. The spoke alloys are another attractive addition to the sedan. The sedan is fed with all new interiors to give a premium feel.
With a four spoke hand wheel and a well-placed music system, the dashboard seems pretty impressive. The instrument panel is quite modern looking and well fit to give the driver all the information in a small space. The Ac air vents and multimedia interface are redesigned for superior performance. The company has not compromised on the space and the sedan remains to be a spacious car.
The car is still in the preliminary testing phase and its test mules have not been spotted yet. The sedan is expected to make its commercial debut in the early 2014. The pricing is to be carefully done so as to be competitive in the market and the expected price tag is around Rs 5 – 9 lakhs. The company fails to avoid the excise duty, charged by the Indian government on vehicles over 4 m in length.
