The i10 has been one of the top selling hatchbacks in India and has also helped Hyundai consolidate its position as one of the leading automobile manufacturers in India. Currently, Hyundai is preparing for the launch of the Grand i10. Needless to say, the Grand i10 will be more stylish and also feature an aggressive powertrain. The Grand i10’s launch would give its close competitors a run for their money as is seen from the initial renderings and specs.
Hyundai will launch the Grand i10 on 3rd September 2013 in India. Hyundai was selling the i10 in the Indian market for a long time and it inevitably felt the need to introduce an upgrade or preferably, brings out an all new i10. The current i10 has had a successful life span in the Indian automobile market for around seven years.
With the launch of the Grand i10, Hyundai will be attracting its potential buyers who were considering purchasing the current i10 among other budget hatchbacks as their options. The Grand i10 is a result of the think-tank working at the European Design Centre of Hyundai based in Germany. Seeing the initial images, it is evident that Hyundai has done remarkably well by providing the fluidic design theme to the Grand i10.
Though the fluidic design was introduced few years back, it looks refreshing even today when seen in the lower segment cars. The Grand i10, as the name suggests, would feature copious cabin space. The cabin is designed in a classic black-beige dual tone color combination. This plush design renders a premium feel to the hatchback’s interiors.
Talking about the traction, the Grand i10 will be made available with two engine options. The first Powertrain option will be the tested 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine. The second engine option will be the all new, advanced 1.1 U2 CRDI diesel motor that will also be seen on Indian roads for the very first time.
To make the Grand i10 appeal to a major chunk of prospective buyers, Hyundai is enticing the target audience with many additional features. These include electric ORVMs fitted with integrated indicators, glove box cooling, Aux-in, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking sensors, steering mounted audio controls, 2DIN audio along with 1GB memory capacity and push start/stop button.
The Grand i10 will also be bigger in size compared to the current i10. It will feature longer doors enabling hassle-free entry and exit for families. Also, the rear door window glass is wider in size. The hatchback will also be seen with a shoulder line featuring a delayed upward curve while the wider glass ensures more light pours in.
Undoubtedly, the Grand i10 is one of the most anticipated compact car launches for this year. Hyundai has intelligently designed and developed the Grand i10, keeping in mind the needs and challenges of the Indian buyers.
With the launch of the revamped version of i10, the Korean car maker once again proves that the India is one of their most critical markets across the globe. Hyundai has also assured that India will get products that are superior or at par with their international counterparts.
