With 2014 approaching, Sedan manufacturers are gearing up for fresh competition. In a world decided by market share, the key competitors in the Indian market include Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Both these car makers are having considerable success with their hatchback Sedan segment. Taking the competition to a level up, both companies are planning on a fresh campaign in 2014.
Although no new models are on the cards, yet the existing favorites are going to get significant improvements. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is receiving a facelift, as is evident from the few ‘leaked’ images on the company’s official Belgium website. The Hyundai i20 is also looking forward to some improvements. Neither manufacturer promises major changes.
Various Parameters for Competition
Why would someone choose a particular car over another car in the same segment? This is an elusive question for every manufacturer. What makes a car connect with its owner? The obvious answer would be a combination of specs and salesmanship.
The buildup of anticipation, conducting surveys among target groups, the TV marketing campaign and the print media campaigns are the key factors determining the acceptability of the product. Therefore, with limited information for both Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, it is very difficult to ascertain who will lead and who will lose in next year’s market clash. Both are major manufacturers and have a sizeable competitive market share in India.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift
From the leaked photos, the 2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift promises to have more changes on the inside than outside. The car would look the same from out. The only differences would be included of upfront L shaped LED and lower front bumper with silver detailing. There would be a high mounted LED stop light also.
The inner improvements include new seat fabrics and a driver side power window with auto up action. Engine wise, the company is not going to bring alterations to its 1.2 l petrol engine (K series) and 1.3 l diesel engine (DDIS).
Hyundai i20 Improvements
The Hyundai i20 would reportedly stick to its fluidic design aspect, but the 2014 version would be bigger. Like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai is also to retain its existing engines. So, you have the 1.4 l diesel engine and the 1.2 l petrol engine. Nothing much about the new Hyundai is available. Just like Maruti, a couple of images of the camouflaged new Hyudai are available.
However, since the company is quite good at camouflaging, nothing much is available from the images. Still, floating anticipations are beginning to take shape. Car lovers would have to wait till next year to see the vehicles openly competing with more information about the features.
Choosing a new car has been always about the best you can get. However, the parameters of ‘best’ vary widely. That is why some people would buy Hyundai and others would buy a new Maruti Suzuki. If you are a floating buyer with no fixed preference, you can keep in touch with the internet for the latest boost to your addiction.
