Hyundai calls for special attention whenever it launches a new car in the market. Similar was the case at the last month launch of the Hyundai Grand i10, code named as BA (internally). The Hyundai BA is the latest from the sheds of the Korean carmaker, earlier planned to be positioned in between the i10 and i20 series. The car is now available in the Indian markets in petrol as well as diesel variants. The car was released in an automatic version, mated to the petrol mill. However, the Hyundai BA of India actually replaced the older i10 with as a brand new i10 in the European as well as other western markets.
Design and Interior
The AB version from Hyundai is not a face-lifted series or tweaked variant of any Hyundai model in the nation, but is a genuinely designed all-new hatchback. The Grand i10 also follows the similar footsteps of the brand’s fluidic design, but comes with stronger design lines and sharper character in comparison to the i10 and i20 series.
The hatchback is bigger than the i10 and comes with longer wheelbase too. The company has decked the new hatchback with additional features and the hatchback comes compacted with a more spacious cabin and larger boot, to portray it as the best release in its class. Hyundai has focused on the look of the car and the plastic feel of the cabin and offered the Grand with a plusher cabin and greater upmarket feel. There are some amazing additional equipments added too.
The Grand i10 comes with many alluring interior features such as electronic ORVM, multiple functioning steering wheel, a reverse camera, height adjustable seat of the driver, and rear air conditioner vents. Speaking about the safety features of the hatchback, the car also features Air Brake System and airbags for the occupants.
The Grand i10 has been launched in two engine versions. The petrol engine of the hatchback is the one that i20 currently power, the 1.2l Kappa2 engine powers the Grand i10 petrol version. The Kappa2 motor renders high class output and is regarded as one of the best engines of its segment when we consider performance, fuel efficiency and refinement of the hatchback. It is expected to perform as good as the i20 engine if not better.
The Grand i10 diesel version features three- cylinder U2 common rail direct injected motor, which is new to the India market but has been used in the international car market. The engine churns out a power of 75PS and a peak torque of 152Nm. There is no auto version of the diesel car and the engine is well mated to the 5 speed gearbox.
Speaking about the Hyundai BA car launch date, the company released the car in the gone month of September. The car is a great innovation in the small car segment and is surely going to be a major hit amongst the masses that prefer small cars. Grand i10 is, in fact, already showing some acceleration in the sales of the brand and increase its market share.
