Hyundai India has set the standards of the premium hatchbacks high with the launch of the fabulous Grand i10. The Grand amalgamates the right amount of gorgeous looks along with world class features. Hyundai claims the car is so distinctive that it requires a new lingo to describe it. And for this festive season this new car can be a great package. The Hyundai Grand i10 is the latest generation i10 in global markets. However, to offer more choice to the Indian car consumers Hyundai has introduced the Grand as superior car than the regular i10. The Grand is a bigger and better car than the i10 from all angles and the Indian spec model is even 100mm longer than its European counterpart.
The Grand i10 has a truly great design appeal, as the car comes with the Fluidic design sculpture of its South Korean maker. It appears bold, sleek and magnificent justifying its Grand name. Though the car is actually the latest gen i10, it is based on an entirely new platform that ensures its contemporary and advanced features and efficiency from every point.
The premium hatch gets Hyundai’s new patent hexagonal air dam and the broad front grill. The Grand gets a very muscular front end with an angular bumper design as well as bold fog lamps. The side profile of the car is kept neat and sleek giving it a very sober appeal rather being loud. At its rear, the hatchback looks gorgeous with a distinctive tailgate design. The stunning new taillights look entirely different than any Hyundai car. The back bumper gets its style quotient from nice cuts and creases along with large reflectors. This again enhances the car’s stunning looks, but again keeps things highly tasteful rather than being tacky.
On the inside, the Hyundai Grand packs in loads of world class features to go with its great exterior appeal. Hyundai has endowed the premium hatch with superior quality upholstery for an overall up-market feel. In the long list of great features, the new hatch includes a smart key, push button engine start/stop, a new double DIN audio system with inbuilt 1 GB memory, steering wheel mounted audio controls with Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB compatibility, rear parking assist sensors, cooling glove box, electrically adjustable and foldable exterior mirrors and loads more. The Grand also boasts of several class first features of rear A.C vents and stunning diamond cut alloy wheels.
The real attraction of the new Grand i10 however lies under its hood. The latest Hyundai offering in India is driven by the choice of both petrol as well diesel engines. While the petrol variant of the hatch is powered by the same 1.2 liter KAPPA petrol mill that used to run (now discontinued in) the regular i10, the diesel Grand is run by a brand new 1.1 liter U2 CRDI diesel motor. The Grand i10’s diesel variant also has an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 24 km per liter that is also a best in class quality of the car.
