The Indian car market is filled with posh sedans, and dominated by established brands like Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. Hyundai has conquered depths of design technology by inventing the cutting-edge Fluidic Design philosophy, visible in its Verna and Elantra sedan models. Toyota is a pioneer in posh sedan segment and Corolla and Etios are few grand examples.

Hyundai is recognized for its exceptionally stylish cars, and Elantra is one of its premium models, its arch rival is the Toyota Corolla Altis. Elantra is equipped with a potent 1.8 liter petrol VTVT engine that yields 177Nm torque and 148 bhp power. The 1.6 liter Elantra CRDi model churns 259Nm and 126 bhp. Customers can choose from six speed automatic and six speed manual transmission.

Corolla Altis is available in diesel and petrol version, the petrol car is inserted with a powerful dual VVT-I DOHC mill with a phenomenal 1798cc displacement capacity. This fiery engine churns 173Nm torque and 138 bhp power, and is offered in 2 transmission versions, the six speed manual and seven speed sequential shiftmatic. The diesel car has an efficient 1.4 liter D 4D engine capacity that releases 205Nm and 87bhp.

Hyundai Elantra and Corolla Altis are dream models for those who desire posh sedans. The Elantra however scores over the Altis, garnished with premium upholstery and super posh features. The royal cabin design is the highlighting feature which defines the grand interiors of the car. The high tech leather fabric and glossy instrument cluster, increases the desirability factor of the car. The Altis does not sport a posh cabin, but has exciting recreational features like a classy touch screen infotainment devise, the fabric material is decent, but not on the level of Elantra. The Elantra is definitely the winner in terms of interior appeal and comfort.

The most important criteria customers take into consideration while purchasing cars is the price. The Altis costs Rs 11.86 lakhs and the most loaded variant is priced at Rs 16 lakhs. The base Elantra is rolled out at Rs 12.83 lakhs, which extends to Rs 16.18 lakhs for top end model.

Toyota Corolla Altis scores well in terms of popularity and brand symbol, the Elantra is a better purchase taking into consideration interior fabric quality and engine capacity. It is a tough choice to choose between the two, Hyundai is always known to be a symbol of exceptional style statement, and the Elantra is exceptionally stylish. Indian’s today desire posh cars to complement their top notch professional designation image.

The Altis on the other is a popular brand image due to the immense recognition and transformation of Corolla for many years since inception in the 1960’s. The car has aged gracefully and this is a wonder factor for car enthusiasts, and also for the elderly to revisit the past. The Elantra is a more value for money car, although slightly pricier than Corolla Altis, it is sprinkled with top notch interiors, and consumers can be submerged in the wonders of luxury. The Altis is not too far behind in terms of experiencing a fun drive experience. It is a tough choice indeed.
