After the launch of the Grand i10 in India with much fanfare on the 3rd of September this year, Hyundai India went ahead with the launch of the automatic variant of the hatch recently. The automatic transmission option is made available only for the top two trim models of the premium hatch for its petrol avatar exclusively. However, soon there was a buzz about a diesel automatic variant of the Hyundai Grand i10 as well. This supposed Grand i10 diesel AT variant is also speculated to go on sale in the Indian car market on 5th of December, this year.
To get to the real truth an Indian auto portal went ahead and had a word with the corporate communication team at Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) regarding the speculated introduction of the Grand i10’s diesel AT variant in December in India. On questioning, a Hyundai spokesperson revealed there are really no plans on the company’s part to produce a diesel model of the Grand i10 with an automatic transmission. So, when the company has yet not considered the Grand i10 Diesel AT there can be no questions regarding its possible release date in the Indian car market. Thus, Hyundai India has totally denied about the existence of the speculated Grand i10 diesel automatic variant.

Hyundai has recently launched the Grand i10 automatic variant in its petrol model’s top two trims, namely the Sportz and Asta. The Grand i10 petrol is powered by the same 1.2-liter Kappa engine that used to drive the regular i10’s top trim levels previously. The engine is coupled with either a 5 speed manual or the newly launched 4 speed Automatic transmission gearbox. The Grand i10 AT has a starting range of Rs. 5.95 lakhs in the Indian car market.
